A Romantic Proposal at Villa del Balbianello, Lake Como
Andy and Daniela came to Lake Como from the United States in September, when the lake softens into late summer light and the mountains turn gold by evening. Villa del Balbianello, suspended between water and sky, has been the silent witness to love stories captured in Star Wars and Casino Royale.
That afternoon, it became theirs. Daniela didn't know. Andy had spent weeks choosing the moment, the words, the ring (an oval-cut diamond she would later not stop looking at). As the sun moved closer to the lake, he knelt under the loggia, and the air paused with her breath.
After she said yes, the day continued on the water. They boarded a wooden boat and let the lake carry them through the golden hour, mountains reflecting in the wake behind them. A proposal told in two acts, stone and water, on the most cinematic lake in Italy.
